Today I had to several things in town, so I decided to go to a different beach. I need to get some melanin in my skin and I didn’t exactly get off to a running start. I went to a Santo place in Windward Passage. Basically, the people who understand my hair the best are either from Brazil or Santo Domingo.
Anyway, since I was on the town side of the island, I decided to stop off at Morningstar Beach, where the Frenchman’s Reef Hotel is, or whatever they’re calling it these days. There were plenty of tourists, but I blended right in and snagged a beach chair. I had forgotten how much warmer the water is on the south side of the island. Also, I love the way the sun shimmers out on the water when you’re looking west towards Water Island.
I’ll have to go up to the main part of the hotel and take a picture of the harbor view one afternoon – the view is unbeatable. And the pool has a bar in it. It’s paradise, really.
I got home just in time. My mother had just made accra since they were entertaining the Brunts – who can always be counted on to be entertaining in turn. We had a lovely dinner on the balcony. The sunset was lovely today. Oh yes, and I can’t end today’s post without including of a picture of my emerging tan and Santo haircut, courtesy of my mother.
